In the water with it
Choosing is mostly a matter of weight. Small/Medium is for swimmers up to 33 lb and Medium/Large takes over from there, up to 50 lb. Whichever you pick, the build is the same: padded shoulders, a fabric-covered heavy-duty zipper and an adjustable padded safety strap, so getting dressed for the pool takes very little time.
Both sizes work the same way once your child is in the water. Flex-form foam pads balance the flotation and encourage a prone swimming position, while the form-fit vest is designed to help propel them forward as arms and legs get going. The fabric is UPF 50, and an adult should supervise within arm's reach.
