In the water with it
The Small/Medium size is recommended for ages 2 to 4, up to 33 pounds. It has shoulder sleeves, a fabric-covered heavy-duty zipper and an adjustable padded safety strap. The collar is the difference: it is padded, it sits under the chin, and it works with the foam pads, which place your child in a prone swimming position.
Start with the collar on while your child gets used to lying forward in the water. When they are ready, take it off — it doubles as a swim-and-collect toy, so you can toss it a short way and let them paddle after it. Stay within arm's reach during every practice; the vest teaches, you supervise.
